The donkey farm Vegetari'Anes is situated at an altitude of 800 meters (2600 feet) above sea level, on the slope of the volcano of Puy Saint Gulmier. We breed donkeys for their milk and for nature trails.
 
Our baby donkeys grow together with their mothers. After they reach the age of two months, during the milking days foals are separated from their mothers only for a few hours and they receive a nutritionally well-balanced feeding.
 
Soon after donkey's hand-milking, mother donkeys rejoin their babies in the pastures.
 
Foals are weaned at about eight months of age. Our young donkeys receive then their first training and they are sold after the age of 10 months, only to people that wish a loyal companion and that own a place that is suitable for them to live.
               
 
Other donkeys remain instead with us and they are well trained to work like the other trail donkeys. They will begin to be trail companions with the sawbuck packsaddle on their back at the age of 4 years.
